MediaMaster Product Range
MediaMaster is a software solution for professional control
of real-time video and effects that has been specifically
developed for desk operators and lighting designers.
It is also probably the most affordable media server software
on the market thanks to its upgradable license system: start
with MediaMaster Express for simple control of your show
through DMX or MIDI and later when you need it, upgrade
to MediaMaster Pro for the difference and get access to
full fixture control mode and advanced compatibility with
professional lighting desks.
But no matter what your choice is, there is no compromise
on the quality. Both versions are built around ArKaos’ latest
generation of technology, embarking our multi-threaded
graphics engine which delivers blistering performance by
taking advantage of multi-core machines.

Simple Mode
Fixture Mode
MediaMaster’ Simple Mode interface allows you to prepare your visual
show in the software itself. You have access to all the parameters
with your mouse and keyboard and you can easily preprogram your
visuals and effects.
In Fixture Mode, you get full parameter control for each layer, directly
from your lighting desk. The support for MSEX, that allows you to
preview your thumbnails on your console screen only makes it easier.
No fiddling around with the mouse anymore..
The easy playback of these pre programmed visual can be triggered
by DMX, MIDI or your computer keyboard. Because of the flexible
control settings you can make the software fit to the lighting desk or
MIDI controller of your choice. The more options your controller has,
the more parameters or visuals you can control.
The Fixture Mode, combined with the other great features from
MediaMaster Pro, turns any powerful computer into a professional
Media Server that will let you program the most advanced shows in a
really easy way, directly from your lighting desk.
“Working with Alpha Channels and the impressive audio-generated content that reacts exactly with
the music is a real improvement to our show. The real-time effects give some very dynamic and
exciting new ways to play back live cameras on the screens. But most importantly, MediaMaster is
rock stable; at this point we have done about 50 shows and it has never failed on us.”

Geometrical Correction & Soft Edge
LED Mapper
MediaMaster Pro makes it incredibly easy to project video on nonplanar surfaces; whether you need to correct a single projector
mounted in those difficult places where standard keystone correction
is not effective or whether you need to harmonize the output from
several projectors which cannot be installed at the same distance
or angle to a curved screen, you can do it all from the Geometrical
Correction tab in the application’s Preference window.
The LED Mapper extension for MediaMaster allows mapping of the
server’s video output directly to any configuration of LED panels,
without the need of using expensive hardware to convert video signal
(VGA or DVI) into DMX signal.
The geometrical correction operates directly by transforming the
output of MediaMaster, and so works on top of both Simple and
Fixture mode. Several test patterns and grids are available to help
precisely align your visuals or real-time video content over nonplanar or curved screens.
Soft Edging can be edited globally, or individually for either side of
each projector, so you can seamlessly blend large visuals across
several projectors in any configuration. You can even generate a
visual preview of your Soft Edge setup, so you can’t go wrong!
MediaMaster Pro’s advanced geometrical correction, combined with
pixel-precise edge blending per output will let you easily achieve
even the most complex screen setups.
Pixel colors or intensity are sent directly from the media server to
the panels through the ArtNet protocol (DMX over Ethernet) which,
if needed, can easily be converted into a standard DMX signal using
simple Ethernet-DMX node. The LED Mapper extension can import
your own mapping of LED devices into MediaMaster, making it
possible to control many of them from a single MediaMaster server
(the only limitation being the 256 DMX universes).
Mapping Editor
The Mapping Editor lets you pick devices from an extensive library
and place them interactively on the screen. While editing the mapping
configuration, you can view the result of your configuration in real
time as it is sent over ArtNet to your LCD panels (supports still pictures
only).
Once happy with your mapping, you can save it to a file and import
it into MediaMaster which will broadcast its output according to your
specific configuration.

Video Mapper
The ArKaos Video Mapper is an extension for MediaMaster Pro which
allows easy mapping of video onto irregularly shaped surfaces and
through multiple outputs. Designed to let you setup mapping projects
in very short times, it makes it incredibly simple to flow visuals around
complex objects with just a few clicks.
Once you launch the extension, MediaMaster Pro will send the output
from each layer to virtual “surfaces” that can be scaled, deformed,
and assigned to any physical output. One output can display a full
screen visual or a composition of several mapped visuals; output to a
video projector and you can map the surfaces to any physical volume
(like objects or building).
Mapping Editor
The mapping editor is where you edit and manage the surfaces and
any connected output. It is a very easy tool which integrates tightly with
MediaMaster Pro: it will show your layer from MediaMaster Pro playing
on the surface you have defined and it will also immediately send any
surface you create to MediaMaster Pro, ready to be used for display!
Main features
MediaMaster combines greatly with professional lighting
desks such as the ChamSys MQ200: since they
both support MSEx, I can see the thumbnails from
MediaMaster directly on the console and even get live
feedback of the servers’ output. When there’s 15,000
people in front of the stage, it’s good to know that you
can’t go wrong displaying your visuals!

Kling-Net
A revolutionary plug-and-play protocol
for LED devices
ArKaos has designed the Kling-Net protocol to allow the
distribution of real-time video data to remote display devices,
such as LEDs or LED panels, over Ethernet.

LED lighting for everyone!
Many basic and first time users are afraid of using LED lighting because of the complexity of
networking and control issues. Using and networking LED lighting has required a high level of
technical knowledge which has been a deterent for many.
We wanted to remove all this complexity and replace it with an easy protocol which
automatically takes care of the magic numbers for the user!
The purpose of Kling-Net is:
• To allow the automatic configuration and connection of display
devices to a computer
• To add some ‘intelligence’ into display devices, which enables auto
configuration
• To ensure a perfect time synchronization of multiple display devices
• To avoid using expensive hardware video converters to send video to
display devices
• To allow the creation of an heterogenic network of display devices
from different manufacturers, which can all be controlled from one
computer
Simpler than ever
Kling-Net uses a Media Server to do all the work, making operation simpler
than ever. It adds a layer of ‘intelligence’ to even the most simple LED
device, enabling it to talk directly to the Media Server. This then enables
the LED devices to configure themselves automatically, removing the
need for complicated setup processes.
Auto Configuration
Kling-Net’s auto configuration capabilities allow a large range of devices
to be controlled by the same Media Server, thus avoiding the painful
process of creating and matching profiles between the Media Server and
each individual device.
Because the Media Server performs the image clipping and transformation
then outputs the correct pixel format, the work to be done by the display
device is minimal. And since the Media Server does all the work, your
video can play at a smooth 60 FPS.
Universal Application
Kling-Net has been designed to work with mostly any manufacturers’ LED
products. It relies on a source code which is capable of transforming even
the most simple LED device into an intelligent Kling-Net device.
Licencing Kling-Net
Kling-Net can be embedded in any manufacturer’s product under licence
from ArKaos. Since it was launched at PLASA 2011, the Kling-Net protocol
has been adopted by major brands from the Show & Lighting market such
as Chauvet, Elation or Highlite.
If you are manufacturing LED devices and would like to add Kling-Net
support to your products, contact us and let us know about your project!
Added Intelligence = Simplicity = Economy
Kling-Net brings LED lighting within reach of the smallest clubs and
venues by making it less technical and less expensive. LED lighting is now
easy to use and cost effective; thanks to the Kling-Net protocol you no
longer have to use expensive devices to obtain sophisticated control.
