New York City-Area Retirees: Don’t Forget Your Free Flu Shot Getting a flu shot is one of the most critical ways that retirees can protect their health. And if you’re a New York City-area retiree, you can get one right here at the Benefit Funds’ office for free. If you live outside the New York metro area, we encourage you to make an appointment with your doctor for the flu shot before flu season begins. Medicare and your Benefit Fund both cover the flu shot if you are eligible.
