Golf tournament raises over $77,000
Torneo de Golf recauda mas de $77,000
Nearly 150 golfers and
over three dozen major
sponsors helped RCMA
raise more than $77,000 at
our seventh annual golf
tournament in Naples.
The event, held April 22
at the Cedar Hammock
Golf and Country Club in
Naples, was co-sponsored
by All-Brand Foods and
Lodge Construction, which
donated $10,000 each.
“We’re extremely
grateful to All-Brand
Foods
and
Lodge
Construction for their
generous support,” said RCMA Executive
Director Barbara Mainster. “These two
companies led numerous major corporate
sponsors that helped make the event a success.
And we owe huge thank you to the many golfers
who donated $175 each to play!”
Special thanks to Kim Dinkel, of Olde Florida
Benefits, for chairing the golf committee, and to
the many RCMA staff who volunteered.
Two teams tied for first place with a score of
57: Shane Klatt, Chris Marlin, Dennis Richard
and John Richard; and Jesse Black, Dr. Hal
Bozof and Scott Schaaf. In third place at 58 were
Robin MacDonald, Irv Pierce, Gary Markarian
and Pat Rodgers.
Winning the grand prize drawing, a sevennight Royal Caribbean cruise, was Danny
Sutton, of the D&K Harvesting team. Curt Todd,
from Bank of America, Naples, won the second
prize, a digital camera, and Val Carter, family
support specialist in RCMA’s Palm Beach area
office, won third prize, a two-night stay at the Rosen Centre Resort
in Orlando.
Platinum sponsors ($5,000 each) were Florida Community Bank
and Olde Florida Benefits. Gold sponsors ($2,500 each) were
Bank of America, Corporate Express, Florida Fruit & Vegetable
Association, Kaplan Early Learning Co., Marsh USA and
Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board. Silver sponsors
($1,500) were BlueCross BlueShield of Florida; Florida Tomato
Exchange; Gargiulo, Inc.; Ocariz, Gitlin & Zomerfeld, LLP, and
PHH Arval. Bronze sponsors ($1,250) were A. Duda & Sons and
subsidiaries, Danka Office Imaging Co., Lykes Brothers and
Rentokil Pest Control. Charter sponsors ($1,000) were the Paul J.
DiMare Foundation and Dex Imaging, Inc.

Staff Recognition of Professional Development
“Honoring RCMA’s Achievers” - by Janet García-Training Data Specialist
April 18, 2006. The day was marked in the
calendar to recognize, celebrate and cheer our
achievers. They walked the extra mile. For most
of them the day was labeled as a Special Day and
we went there to support them. This year we
honored the accomplishments of 121 people
walking the pathway of Professional Development,
hiking the career ladder.
We had organized a very special program for the
achievers at the Kenilworth Lodge Hotel in
Sebring. The program opened with Shannon
Tracy-Faust welcoming everyone and introducing
Alma Báez for the blessing. Right after a delicious
lunch Isabel García began calling the award
recipients to receive their plaques. Judy Burleson,
Director of Education, was on stage to deliver the
plaques, congratulate the staff and instruct them to
stand under the arch.
Right there the moment was stamped, a picture with
Barbara Mainster was taken for posterity.
The inspirational message was given by Tom
Moonan, Mentor-Tutor in Immokalee. An invitation
to keep and continue traditions was made to the
audience.
Our organization is very proud to have these heroes
as part of our team. This is what makes us unique.
Awesome, way to go! RCMA and Professional
Development would like to invite every single person
in this entire organization to continue education, to
promote a tradition of cultivating educated human
resources in society and to commit to the powerful,
never-ending learning process. You will be capable,
talented, proficient, you will be gifted. This is

Celebración del Reconocimiento a empleados por Desarrollo Profesional
“Honrando los ganadores de RCMA” - by Janet García-Training Data Specialist
El día 18 de abril de 2006 estaba marcado en el calendario para reconocer,
celebrar y aplaudir a nuestros ganadores. Ellos caminaron la milla extra. Para
muchos de ellos ese dia fue uno muy especial y estuvimos allí para aplaudirlos.
Este año reconocimos los logros de 121 personas que caminaron la ruta del
Desarrollo Profesional, escalando en su carrera.
Organizamos un programa especial en el hotel Kenilworth Lodge en Sebring.
El programa abrió con Shannon Tracy-Faust dando la bienvenida y presentando a
Alma Baez quien hizo la oración. Después del delicioso almuerzo, Isabel García
comenzó a llamar a los empleados quienes fueron presentados con placas. Judy
Burleson, Directora de Educación estuvo en la tarima para entregar las placas
felicitar los empleados y decirles que se pararan debajo del arco. Allí el momento
fue marcado, una foto con Bárbara Mainster, Directora Ejecutiva de RCMA, fue
tomada para la posteridad.
El mensaje inspiracional fue traído por Tom Moonan, Mentor-Tutor del área de
Immokalee. Una invitación a mantener y continuar la tradición fue presentado a
la audiencia.
Nuestra organización está muy orgullosa de tener estos héroes como parte de nuestro equipo. Eso es lo

NOTES AND NEWS -Words and Photos from Around the State!
Reading Roundup promotes literacy
Reading Roundup promueve la lectura
RCMA’s Putnam County area
staff again participated in the
annual Children’s Reading
Roundup Rally, which was held
recently at the riverfront
amphitheater in Palatka. The
event was sponsored by Child
Care Resources and the Early
Learning Coalition of Putnam and
St. Johns counties. Activities
included a parade, celebrity
readers, guest appearances from
local legislators, face painting,
games and much more.
The day of the event,
March 25, was declared
Children’s Day, and Palatka
Mayor Carl Flagg read the
official p roclamatio n.
RCMA has been part of this
event for the past two years,
and staff who attended
included several of our
OW’s and our Area FSS,
Carol Coffie.
Geared toward improving
literacy, the event also celebrated children and positive
families, and it gave parents, service providers,
community members and others the opportunity to
become aware of what services are available in the area.

Reading Roundup, la cual
fue llevada a cabo en el
anfiteatro cerca del rio en
Palatka. El evento fue

Diseñado para mejorar la lectura, este

servicios, miembros de la comunidad y otros la
oportunidad de saber de los servicios que existen en el
area.

Representatives from the Hope
Project visited RCDC-Infant in
Immokalee on May 17. They
presented a puppet show to
help children understand what
needs to be done in case a
hurricane approaches their area.
After the show, the kids were
taught what supplies a family
needs to have readily available
during hurricane season. All the
kids were very happy and
enjoyed the show very much.
Project Hope is an outreach team that provides
educational support for those affected by hurricanes.

El 17 de Mayo nos visitaron las
personas del HOPE Project
"Proyecto de Esperanza" aquí en
nuestro centro RCDC– Infant en
Immokalee. Ellos trajeron un
show de muñequitos, con los
cuales quieren ayudar a nuestros
niños a entender que podemos
hacer en caso de un huracán.
Nuestros niños estuvieron muy
contentos y disfrutaron mucho el
show. El proyecto HOPE o
proyecto esperanza es una
organización que provee de soporte educacional para
aquellos afectados por los huracanes. ¡Gracias Proyecto
Esperanza!
