#6 Check In - Check Out Editorial Colección República There are a few things that those of us who live in the world of tourism have to deal with every day; we must buy products, we have to enjoy each season and accept that they all have to end, new and old friendships or personal relationships that come and go, everything feels like a circle of beginnings and endings. Sometimes these things are never ending cycles, other times they pass in an instant; from ephemeral love, to the eternal low seasons. Everything is starting and ending. Everything is reduced to a record for us, a kind of “check in”; you get to know a person, where they come from, what they like, how they react in good times and bitter times, you can enjoy your stay as much as possible and let yourself be swept away in the moment, and then finally comes the inevitable farewell. The end. Sometimes there are tears, sometimes joy, and then memories take over. Our minds are full of memories, personal relationships, fantasies, pleasures, but finally all good things must come to an end, the fateful moment where the two paths are parted once more. Both accomplished, both grew, spent time together, but in the end everything is paid for, accounts are settled, these experiences begin to shape our future, and unavoidably, we reach the “Check out”. txt: Manuel Vélez Reyes / imgs: Kevork Djansezian (AP) + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + tim Burton Tim fue un niño tímido y extraño que se nutría de cómics y antiguas películas de terror y fantasía, entre ellas las protagonizadas por su ídolo Vincent Price, disfrutando Tim was a shy and strange child who feeds on comics, old horror movies and fantasy films, inluding those featuring by his idol Vincent Price, enjoying de las adaptaciones que Roger Corman hizo de uno de sus Tim was a shy and strange child who fed on comics, old escritores favoritos: Edgar Allan Poe. horror movies and fantasy films, including those featuring Desarrolló un gran talento para el dibujo, estudiando his idol Vincent Price, enjoying the adaptations that Roger animación en el Instituto de Arte de Califonia en el Corman made of one of his favorites writers: Edgar año de 1979. Mystical, religious, picturesque and friendly, these are the principal elements than can describe the town of Izamal, where its people share their life stories, feelings, their joys and their fears. As if from a story book, this place captivates with its yellow hued walls that comprise the residences and buildings of the community. It was once visited by Pope John Paul II on account of the Virgin of Conception, who is sheltered at the San Antonio de Padua Convent, a glorious and monumental landmark that resides in town. Yes, using it as a means of expression, as in its beginnings, with a based proposal, but also making it totally disruptive compared to traditional graffiti. It probably won’t cause any difference in our over-saturated urban visual field. The LED graffiti could be done in different ways. Firstly, preparing the space with magnetic paint in case a circuit or series is required before painting and placing the LED’s, or just fitting out the LED as independent, or in series with a battery and a magnet to fix it on metallic surfaces, like + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + grupo de arte dedicado a implementar y modificar tecnologías para comunicación urbana (LED, láser, proyección, intervención de mobiliario urbano, etc.). It is about finding the building, monument or iconic and ideal structure, so the message transcends the facts of being there, at least for a few seconds, to see how many people are exposed to the message. Imagínate que me acabo Lets suppose its just a normal morning de despertar. Pero no te woken up and am still wearing my pyjamas. Don’t go thinking dirty things – I sleep in pyjamas. I put on a bathrobe to go out to get newspaper. I say goodmorning to a young man picking up a trash can. He turns to me and in an artificial voice like a character from the jetsons “you’rewelcome-have-a-niceday”. Hearing this I turn to take a better look at the young man and realice – its a Robot. I share this story with you, to prevent you from a similar scenario – fainting in the middle of street wearing nothing but your bathrobe – and if you’re lucky like me – pyjamas. Why is it time I share this story? I received a robot on my birthday, an R2D2 from the famous and funny Star Wars series. I’ll admit, its not the same size and unfortunately it doesn’t project films like Star Wars original but that would be over $5 thousand dollars. This one is still really fun though. I was fascinated with this little thing and then a friend showed me that there were more robots. You can use them for everything. The most exciting thing about this is that you can already find robots that have personalities, like “Tommy i-SOBOT”. They say this is the smallest robot recognized by Guiness Records. Measuring 7 inches in heigh, it has 200 different voice commands, 180 pre-programmed movements like push-ups, martial arts, and could even be a cowboy if you wanted him to. It is his small size that makes him less fun than others. Regardless, he speaks, introduces himself and pretends he plays the guitar. This is idea for those who want a pet don’t have the time to take care of it, feed it or play with it . The price is $200. On the con side. Technology is advancing rapidly, maybe next year there is going to be a new robot; one that is funnier and more entertaining. Also, this product is not being sold in Mexico, and there is currently nobody shipping to Mexico. Little by little, with time, we are going to start changing the law. I would start reading Isaac Asimov, a prophetic author of science fiction books. These are the three robotic Mr. Asimov rules, from his book, “Runaround”.
