Miaz Brothers
Roberto y Renato Miaz, hermanos nacidos en Milán en 1965 y 1968
respectivamente, estudiaron Bellas Artes y continuaron su formación en el
European Institute of Design. Desde el inicio de su carrera trabajan como colectivo,
casi como extensión de su relación fraternal, extendiendo juego y niñez a la praxis
artística. Entre 1990 y 1996, fuera de todo circuito artístico, decidieron romper con
la tradicional vía que va desde la universidad hasta el centro de creación o galería,
exponiendo en entornos menos vinculados al arte pero más cercanos al público,
explorando así diversas disciplinas y situaciones.
Más tarde, entre 1996 y 2000, Miaz Brothers comenzaron a trabajar en una serie
de proyectos creativos para organizaciones, en un nuevo intento de experimentar
en espacios no habituales al arte. Poco después, en el año 2001, deciden
embarcarse en un nuevo proyecto, y eligen Nueva York como destino, donde
comienzan a desarrollar su estilo original. Sin embargo, después del incidente del
11-S, los hermanos optaron por trasladarse a París, donde continúan con el trabajo
iniciado en NY. Después de cinco años trabajando y experimentando con vídeo,
fotografía y pintura comienzan un tour por Sudamérica, Sudeste de Asia y Europa,
estableciendo su residencia actual en Valencia.
Es en este viaje donde los hermanos Miaz estructuran el proyecto Antimatter,
reuniendo todas aquellas experiencias vividas y desarrollanddo estéticamente las
cuestiones metafísicas del ser humano como eje de su investigación.
Entre sus exposiciones realizadas destacan: "Fresh Paint", exposición colectiva en
Lazarides Gallery de Londres (2013). "The Artist , as viewed from the outside",
exposición colectiva en London Art Fair (2013), "Contemporary Visions" exposición
colectiva en BeersLambert Gallery de Londres (2012). "Antimatter series",
exposición individual en Galería B14 de Barcelona (2012). "Masters serie",
exposición individual en Spazio Thetis, Arsenale Novissimo Venezia (2012).
"Antimatter", exposición individual en Leo Galleries, Milan (2012). Entre otros han
sido galardonados con el Premio Internacional Arte Laguna de Venecia (2011) y el
Premio Especial de Museo Amposta de Arte Contemporáneo (Barcelona, 2010).

Miaz Brothers
Roberto and Renato Miaz were born in Milan in 1965 and 1968 respectively, where
they attended the Art School and European Institute of Design. Since childhood, the
two have shared their lives collaborating with each other in work and play, and as
artists have followed a very unconventional path. Instead of opting for, in their
words, the "classic route of High School – Academy – Gallery", Roberto e Renato
decided to explore the world and gain invaluable life experiences as well as
technical skills, in order to fully develop their vision and goals before making their
artistic debut. Accordingly, with the spirit of the Renaissance artist in their hearts,
they set out to expose themselves to "the most diverse disciplines and situations".
Between 1990 and 1996, the brothers had theirs works showcased in popular clubs
in Milan, as opposed to in art galleries, in an attempt to exhibit their art in
unconventional spaces frequented by myriad of youngsters. As well, these highly
successful ventures allowed the Miaz brothers to wholly observe the reactions of
their viewers in a natural setting, as opposed to in a ‘white cube’ environment.
Later, between 1996 and 2000 the brothers began working on a series of creative
projects for corporations, in another attempt to experiment with non-traditional
venues for their art. However, soon after in 2001, they decided that it was time to
embark on a new journey, and thus chose New York as their next destination,
where they first laid the groundwork for their original style. However, after the
incident of 9/11, the brothers opted for Paris to continue the photography
experience. After five years working and experimenting with videos photos and
paintings they begin a tour of South America, Southeast Asia, and Europe, which
would eventually lead them to their present home in
Valencia,Spain.
It was on this journey that the brothers laid the foundations of the Antimatter project
condensing all the experiences lived and developing aesthetically the philosophical
problematics concerning the human being, as always central subject of their
research.
