Teacher Appreciation Week
May 2, 2016 - May 6, 2016
Teacher Appreciation Week is a
special day to recognize child care
providers, teachers and other
educators of young children
everywhere. Today’s child care professionals are the world’s
unsung heroes. This profession is one of the most underpaid
occupations in the country; yet research shows that early
childhood is the most critical developmental period in a child’s
life. It takes a special person to work in this field and the
contribution these individuals make to the quality of children’s
and families’ lives too frequently goes unnoticed. This week
offers a unique opportunity to recognize and commend the
unselfish dedication, commitment and compassion that child care
providers demonstrate everyday. Even the smallest of efforts
mean so much to those who have your children in their care.
Your provider’s smile will be your reward.
Do not let this day go by without a special thank you to
this person who is so important to you and your child!
A special “Thank You” from
the staff of Duplin County
Partnership for Children.
We would like to thank all the teachers
working in Duplin County child care centers
and family child care homes. We appreciate
all the hard work, love, care and support you give every day to
the children in your care. We encourage you to continue to plant
the seeds of love and learning and you will see the children grow
from the little ones in your care into productive individuals that
may one day say, “Thank you for being there for me.”
Keep up the great work!!

TV Tips For Parents
Consejos Par Los Padres Como Limitar La
Telvision
Let’s be honest. Television is mesmerizing and
that is why parents like it occasionally because it
keeps children quiet. Here are some simple steps
to follow to make sure your family is making smart
choices when it’s time for TV:

Decide as a family what television programs are
worthwhile to watch. Sit down a few minutes before
the show comes on and then turn the television off at 
the end.

Make sure your child has finished his/her homework
and chores before relaxing in front of the tube.

Set a time limit for watching television each day and
stick to it.

Replace television time with some other fun time
such as a quick card game or a walk around the
block. It’s a great opportunity to talk to your child
about their day.

Spend time talking with your child during family
meals and keep the television turned off during the
meal.

Place the remote away from the couch or table so
there is less temptation to turn it on if your child is
bored.

Keep the television in an area of the house where you
can see and hear what your child is watching.

Remove the TV set from your child’s bedroom.

Do not use television as a reward for a job well done.
Children can easily eat an entire bag of pretzels
while watching their favorite show because they are
not paying attention. Pour one serving of the pretzels 
in a bowl instead of the bag. Better yet, skip the
snack until after the show.

tranquilos. He aquí algunos sencillos pasos para
