“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old order has passed away, now all is new! All
this has been done by God who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us
the ministry of reconciliation. I mean that God, in Christ, was reconciling the world to himself,
not counting men’s transgressions against them and has entrusted the ministry of
reconciliation to us. “ As we live this jubilee of mercy, Paul’s message provides a clear, understandable
message concerning the saving work of God. It is God who takes the initiative, I am called to respond. It is He
who offers me forgiveness, I need only ask. He sent Jesus precisely for this purpose, to forgive, reconcile and
offer us the gift of joy and peace. How many, how few, accept this tremendous gift? The parable of Luke
introduces us to three persons, the wayward son, the jealous brother and the waiting, forgiving father. There
is some of each of us in all three. Our walk with the Lord this Lent is the call given us to make all things new.
I need forgiveness, I have the power to forgive others, I can have peace. With only a few weeks left to
celebrate the paschal mystery, may I decide today, when I will seek the Lord’s gift of forgiveness in the
Sacrament of Reconciliation.
“El que vive en Cristo es una nueva criatura: lo antiguo ha desaparecido, un ser nuevo
se ha hecho presente. Y todo esto procede de Dios, que nos reconcilió con él por
intermedio de Cristo y nos confió el ministerio de la reconciliación. Porque es Dios el
que estaba en Cristo, reconciliando al mundo consigo, no teniendo en cuenta los
pecados de los hombres, y confiándonos la palabra de la reconciliación.”Mientras
vivimos este jubileo de misericordia, San Pablo nos provee de un comprensible mensaje que concierne el
trabajo salvador de Dios. Es Dios quien toma la iniciativa, yo soy llamado a responder. Es El quien me ofrece
el perdón, yo sólo necesito pedirlo. Envió a Jesús precisamente para este propósito, para perdonar,
reconciliar y ofrecernos el don de la alegría y la paz. Hay muchos, hay pocos, que aceptan este tremendo
don. La parábola de San Lucas nos presenta a tres personas: el hijo obstinado, el hermano celoso y el padre
que espera y perdona. Hay algo de cada uno de ellos en nosotros. Nuestra jornada con el Señor esta
Cuaresma es la llamada que se nos ha hecho para hacer todas las cosas nuevas. Necesito el perdón, yo tengo
el poder de perdonar a otros, yo puedo tener paz. Con sólo unas pocas semanas para celebrar el misterio
pascual, que me decida hoy, al buscar el don del perdón de nuestro Señor en el Sacramento de la
Reconciliación.

preghiera che apriamo la liturgia di questa domenica. Il Vangelo ci annuncia una misericordia
che è già avvenuta e ci invita a riceverla in fretta: “Vi supplichiamo in nome di Cristo: lasciatevi
riconciliare con Dio”, dice san Paolo (2Cor 5,20). Il padre non impedisce al suo secondogenito di
allontanarsi da lui. Egli rispetta la sua libertà, che il figlio impiegherà per vivere una vita grigia e degradata.
Ma mai si stanca di aspettare, fino al momento in cui potrà riabbracciarlo di nuovo, a casa. Di fronte
all’amore del padre, il peccato del figlio risalta maggiormente. La sofferenza e le privazioni sopportate dal
figlio minore sono la conseguenza del suo desiderio di indipendenza e di autonomia, e di abbandono del
padre. La nostalgia di una comunione perduta risveglia in lui un altro desiderio: riprendere il cammino del
focolare familiare. Questo desiderio del cuore, suscitato dalla grazia, è l’inizio della conversione che noi
chiediamo di continuo a Dio. Siamo sempre sicuri dell’accoglienza del padre. La figura del fratello maggiore ci
ricorda che non ci comportiamo veramente da figli e figlie se non proviamo gli stessi sentimenti del padre. Il
perdono passa per il riconoscimento del bisogno di essere costantemente accolti dal Padre. Solo così la
Pasqua diventa per il cristiano una festa del perdono ricevuto e di vera fratellanza.
