Fall is a beautiful time on the central coast and
we began the fall with our Alta Vista Festival which was
also the culmination of very well attended community
parking lot sales throughout the summer. Towards the
end of summer we looked forward to two new unexpected blessings coming our way this fall:
♦ the first blessing was having a seminarian do his internship year with us. Eduardo Trejo began his internship in September and we have been getting to
know each other ever since. He comes to us with a
legal background that is helpful for our work with
CIMA and with experience in the Lutheran Church of
El Salvador as well as his home church in San Francisco. Together with his experience in Puerto Rico we
especially look forward to his contribution to our latino ministry in addition to participating in all aspects
of our congregational life.
♦ The second blessing was the offer by Mesa Verde
Gardens to begin a community garden on our property. After looking at all the immediate options we decided to start with a small área to the west of the
sanctuary. Anna Rasmussen will be helping us in its
development and will be planting a cover crop this
month to prepare for planting the garden in the
spring. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
We celebrate growth in our lives and our gardens and
thank God for all the gifts we receive daily. As we seek to
be a healing and unifying presence of God’s grace in our
community we invite you to join us this fall in worship,
study and service.
El otoño es un tiempo hermoso aquí in la costa central
y comenzamos el otoño con nuestra Festival de Alta
Vista que fue culminación de las ventas comunitarias
este verano. Hacia el final del verano nos llegaron dos
bendiciones inesperadas para el otoño:
♦ La primera bendición fue que nos mandaron un
seminarista para hacer su año de práctica con
nosotros. Eduardo Trejo comenzó su internado en
septiembre y ya nos estamos conociendo. Viene
con experiencia de abogado que es útil para nuestro trabajo con CIMA y con experiencia en la Iglesia Luterana en El Salvador tanto como en su congregación en San Francisco. Junto con su experiencia y Puerto Rico esperamos su contribución a
nuestro ministerio latino adicional a su participación en todo aspecto de la vida congregacional.
♦ La segunda bendición fue la oferta por los Jardines
de Mesa Verde para comenzar un jardín comunitario en nuestra propiedad. Después de mirar todas las opciones decidimos comenzar con un área
pequeña al oeste del santuario. Anna Rasmussen
nos ayudará en su desarrollo y plantará un cultivo
de cobertura este mes en preparación para plantar en la primavera. Pronto nos llegará más información al seguir el proceso.
Celebramos el crecimiento en nuestras vidas y nuestros jardines y damos gracias a Dios por los dones que
recibimos diariamente. Al buscar ser una presencia
sanadora y unificadora de la gracia de Dios en nuestra
comunidad, les invitamos a unirse con nosotros en
adoración, estudio y servicio.

This is a 9 session study written by Dr. Barbara Rossing
called “Journeys Through Revelation: Apocalyptic
Hope for Today.”
The last book in the Bible is often very misunderstood. Be prepared with
biblical knowledge the next time someone tells you the world is ending. Feel
free to come to every session for the whole story or come when you are able.
The Spirit gives wisdom speaking through each of us, so we look forward to
your presence and contributions for this summer study.

I am Eduardo Antonio Trejo Soto, born in the city of
San Salvador, El Salvador, on August 26, 1964. My parents are
Arnoldo Antonio Trejo and María de la Paz Soto. I am married
to Sandra Jante Flores Corado, with whom I have three children, Eduardo Antonio Trejo Flores, who is 16 years old, Fanny
Rosenda who is 14 and Medardo Antonio who is 13 years old.
My wife and children are currently living in San Salvador.
In 2005 in Oakland I began the process to become an
ordained minister of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America. I was presented as a candidate
for the ministry by my home congregation of St. Mary and St.
Martha in San Francisco which belongs to this Sierra Pacific
Synod.
In August of 2008 I moved to Puerto Rico to start my
studies in the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico. After three
years of study I graduated in May of 2011. I have now returned
again to California to continue the process of ordination as a
Lutheran pastor. And that is how I now find myself in this
congregation, Lutheran Community Church of Watsonville,
doing my internship. Thank you for permitting me to complete
this year of practical pastoral study with you. I hope that it will
be a year of much growth in my personal, spiritual life and also
our congregational life. Thank you for the welcome you have
given me. May God continue blessing you also in your personal
as well as congregationl life.
Soy Eduardo Antonio Trejo Soto, nací en la ciudad de
San Salvador, El Salvador, el día 26 de agosto de 1964. Mis
padres se llaman Arnoldo Antonio Trejo y María de la Paz Soto.
Estoy casado con Sandra Janet Flores Corado, con quien hemos
procreado tres hijos, Eduardo Antonio Trejo Flores, quien tiene
16 años de edad, Fanny Rosenda de 14 y Medardo Antonio de
13. Mi esposa e hijos residen actualmente en San Salvador.
En el año 2005, en la ciudad de Oakland, comencé el
proceso para ser Ministro Ordenado de Palabra y Sacramento
de la Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. La Iglesia Luterana que me propuso como candidato al ministerio fue la Iglesia
Santa María y Santa Marta de la Ciudad de San Francisco, la
cual pertenece al Sierra Pacific Synod.
En agosto de 2008, me trasladé a Puerto Rico a iniciar
los estudios en el Seminario Evangélico de Puerto Rico.
Después de tres años de estudios me gradué en Mayo del
2011. He regresado nuevamente a California, a continuar con
el proceso que me falta, para así finalmente ser ordenado
como Pastor Luterano. Por eso me encuentro ahora en esta
Iglesia Luterana de la Comunidad de Watsonville, haciendo mi
práctica pastoral. Gracias por permitirme realizarla con
ustedes. Espero que sea un año de mucho crecimiento en mi
vida personal, espiritual y congregacional. Gracias por la bienvenida que me dieron. Que el Señor les continué bendiciendo
en su vida personal, como congregacional.
