Dear Parishioners,
In just a few weeks we will celebrate the Paschal Mystery – the dying and rising of
Jesus to new life. Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday is truly our “Holy Week” for us Catholics.
Judging from our tremendous crowds on Ash Wednesday…I can only imagine how many
people will fill our Church for Holy Week. Monsignor Wetterer, Father Gildea, Fr. Adriano,
Sr. Lucy, and I are all looking forward to praying with you during these holy days.
I’m writing a letter to all of our parishioners just as I did at Christmas asking for your
help. As you know the Easter Gift collection will be the second collection on Palm Sunday. It’s
our opportunity to show our gratitude for all that St Bart’s parish has done, is doing and will
continue to do! I think you all know what we are trying to do here at St. Bart’s to make our
present and our future stronger than ever. I do my best to inform you of all those things each
Sunday in the bulletin I don’t need to repeat it here.
The envelopes are located at the entrance of the church and chapel.
A sacrifice of $100 would go a long way in allowing us to continue to reduce our debt and
create more programs for our young parishioners. If you cannot give $100 at this time —
that’s fine— just please make any gift you can. Of course, if you could give more we would
appreciate that as well.
Working together we will continue to build a solid foundation for this great parish!
We are a communion of cultures who are becoming a communion of saints!

En tan sólo unas semanas celebraremos el misterio pascual: la muerte y resurrección
de Jesús a la nueva vida. Desde el Domingo de Ramos hasta el Domingo de Pascua es
verdaderamente nuestra "Semana Santa" para nosotros los católicos. A juzgar por nuestras
grandes multitudes del Miércoles de Ceniza... sólo puedo imaginar cuántas personas van a
llenar nuestra Iglesia en Semana Santa. Monseñor Wetterer, el Padre Gildea, el P. Adriano, la
Hna. Lucy, y yo estamos esperando para orar con ustedes durante estos días santos.
Estoy escribiendo una carta para todos nuestros feligreses, así como lo hice en
Navidad, pidiendo su ayuda. Como ustedes saben la colecta del regalo de Pascua sera la
segunda colecta del Domingo de Ramos. Juntamos ¿Puedo pedir su ayuda otra vez para la
Pascua? Creo que todos ustedes saben lo que estamos tratando de hacer aquí en
San Bartolomé para hacer nuestro presente y nuestro futuro más sólido que nunca. Hago
todo lo posible para informarle todas esas cosas todos los domingos en el boletín, no
necesito repetir aquí.
El sobre se adjunta a esta carta. Un sacrificio de $100 recorrer un largo camino en el
que nos permite seguir para reducir nuestra deuda y crear más programas para nuestros

This past week, the True Believers reflected on the
liturgical season of Lent, since we just about hit the half
way point. We explored ways to prepare for Easter by
praying, fasting and giving alms. We learned that
sometimes that even small gestures we make can change
our hearts.

WORLD YOUTH DAY UPDATE
The group attending World Youth Day this summer in Poland has
been continuing to raise money for their pilgrimage.
The group would like to extend a special "thank you" to the Spanish
Charismatic Group for the concert they sponsored and for all their
prayers. Be on the look out for more ways to support these young
adults and please continue to pray for the growth and formation of
this group as they continue their faith journeys.

ENGLISH 3 DAY RETREAT APRIL 4, 5, & 6 Fr Replogle, the Jesuit priest who
offers mass here each Sunday, along with Fr Rick will offer a 3 day retreat at the
Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Lloyd Harbor New York on April 4, 5,
and 6. The theme of the retreat will be focused on Mercy and Forgiveness. The
total cost of the retreat is $225 per person. It includes: round trip transportation, a private room and bathroom for two nights, lunch and dinner on Mon
April 4, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Tuesday, Apr 5 and breakfast and lunch
on Wednesday, April 6. This will be a wonderful opportunity to get away and
spend quality time in prayer with the Lord. There’s more than 200 acres to walk
(the grounds are beautiful) and the building includes many chapels, a library as
well as other rooms for relaxation. There’s space for 35 people and like last
year…the list will fill up quickly. Call the rectory to reserve your spot!

GREAT NEWS: Bishop DiMarzio has assigned
a permanent deacon to our parish. Deacon
Daniel Magana will be presenting himself at
many of the masses this weekend.
He lives nearby with his wife, Maria
Guadalupe, and his children. He’s bilingual
and comfortable in English and Spanish.
He will work closely with the parish priests
and staff. This is a wonderful addition to
our parish family.

Daniel a warm welcome!
