Reflection from the Pastor:
In 1925, Pope Pius XI established the Solemnity of Christ the King. He did this
because he thought that the most effective weapon against the destructive forces of
the age is the acknowledgment of the Kingship of Christ. At that time, there were
many political persecutions against the Church, especially in Mexico and Latin
America, but also the general discrimination against the Church in English-speaking
countries and the rise of Communism in Russia. Each of these movements, in their
own way, sought to obliterate the memory of God from public consciousness and to
replace God with man, most especially man as obedient to the State. These trends
still continue, and are even stronger and bolder than before. God is relegated to the
private sphere, but amorality is exalted as “personal choice and freedom”. Jesus
Christ is King of the Universe, but He asks you to love and serve Him, not as a slave,
but as His friend. Remember that to reject Jesus, even passively, is to embrace the
devil. The devil is not your friend; he has no love for you. All of his promises are
empty. May Jesus Christ the King reign in our hearts now and forever!

Bulletin Bits from the Diocesan Stewardship Office
"Once One Chooses to be a Disciple of Christ, Stewardship is not an
Option”
I am the Alpha and the Omega! As the Church year ends we bring into focus the eternal
kingship of Christ our Savior. As Christian disciples, we recognize that baptism is our entry
into the family of God and makes us subjects in Christ's eternal kingdom. To remain loyal to
Jesus is to be loyal to the truth and requires an effort to recognize the lies of Satan. The devil
encourages us to think only of ourselves, while Jesus shows us how to live in the love of the
Father. May we follow our King to the end of the earth.
