Second Sunday of Ordinary Time Page 2 January 15, 2012 FROM THE PASTOR, As we begin our new year we continue to remember our past. One of the most interesting stories is that Father Creegan, appointed to be pastor of Saint Mary's while he was in Hailey overseeing the birth of Sun Valley, was truly surprised by the appointment. Father John J. Creegan came to Boise without a church or a rectory in the fall of 1937. The church was soon to be finished and was dedicated [not consecrated] on December 19, 1937 by Bishop Edward J. Kelly. But Father Creegan had to live on the third floor of the Cathedral rectory until the rectory of Saint Mary's was finished in the summer of 1938. He had a daunting job before him, and he set to work making a new parish happen. Oremos. Dios nos Bendiga Su servidor, Diacono Jorge Time Flies Just a few weeks ago we were in preparation for Christmas, for New Year and the Feast of the Epiphany (three wise men) and some may have forgotten to prepare for the future. The event had already passed recalling what had happened more than two thousand years ago. Yes we enjoyed these events, for some they were great simple moments, for others not so great because of unexpected events; only God knew such things. At the present time many of us are in preparation to keep-up with the demands of life. We are working to realize resolutions for this year 2012. Stop for a moment to reflect: if all of us put in God’s hands our plans, for sure we will obtain whatever we are working for. If we try to do things only with own efforts they may not be as we expected. There are some who believe on what others say; that the end of the world will happen on this year 2012. They even specify the day. They believe in the Mayan Calendar as a prophecy, without considering God’s will? Only God knows when that day will come and we should be preparing for when that day come. Let us pray. God Bless us all Your servant, Deacon Jorge Second Sunday of Ordinary Time Page 3 January 15, 2012 Arise! At the Sound Idaho Catholic Youth Convention March 9-11 at Bishop Kelly.
