On December 6, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco will hear oral arguments in a case
that could be the Roe v. Wade of marriage. Attorneys representing the Prop 8 Legal Defense Fund will ask a
three judge panel to overturn last August's decision by Federal District Judge Vaughn Walker to throw out
Proposition 8. Judge Walker ruled that the decision of the citizens of California to recognize marriage as
only between a man and a woman was irrational and could be attributed only to bigotry.
Please join in a Novena (see attached) in the nine days leading up to the December 6 oral arguments for the
intentions of marriage and the reversal of Judge Walker's decision. Though the full nine-day Novena begins
on Sunday, November 28 and ends on December 6, the day of the oral arguments, you can join in at any
time.
Pray for Marriage and the Supporters of Marriage
On Trial in California
On December 6, 2010, in the U.S Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco will hear oral arguments for reversing the decision of
Federal District Court Judge Vaughn Walker and restoring Proposition 8, the California constitutional amendment recognizing
marriage between a man and a woman. By judicial fiat, the Federal District Court found that there was no rational basis for
recognizing marriage as only between a man and a woman and concluded the reason for the passage of Prop 8 in November 2008
was bigotry on the part of the voters. Since this case conceivably could go all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, it could become the
Roe v. Wade of marriage with national consequences. We invite you to pray that Judge Walker's decision will be overturned by this
court. To that end we offer the following petitions for your daily prayer:
Heavenly Father, from the beginning You established marriage as the
permanent union of one man and one woman for the purpose of
establishing that necessary community of lasting love in which children
may best be born and nurtured. At this dark hour, in which the goodness
of your Divine Purpose is so badly misunderstood, and in which those who
have tried to bear witness to the truth have been brought to trial, we beg
you to hear these prayers we offer You, through the Holy Child, Jesus,
and the intercession of the rest of the Holy Family of Nazareth—of His
mother Mary, especially under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and St.
Joseph, the earthly father and protector of the family—and through the
intercession of Holy Joachim and Ann, parents of Mary and grandparents
of Jesus:
•
Open the mind and heart of all who are involved in this appeal—
the justices, the attorneys, and litigants—that all may come to understand
and accept Your Divine Plan for marriage. Inspire them to appreciate and
affirm the delight You take in what has come to be known as traditional
marriage. Let us pray to the Lord. R: Lord, hear our prayer.
•
Guide the appeals court panel of justices, that they may deliberate
wisely, and may respect the legitimate actions of the voters. By your Holy
Spirit inspire them to understand the rights of children to know and be
cared for by their own father and mother. Let us pray to the Lord. R:
Lord, hear our prayer.

Send Your Holy Spirit, we beg You, upon the attorneys to guide
them in their presentations. Help them to reason truthfully and to present
compelling arguments to clarify misconceptions and misperceptions. Let
us pray to the Lord. R: Lord, hear our prayer.
•
Let the plaintiffs feel Your love and peace; console their pain and
suffering and let them understand that support for traditional marriage is
based, not on whim or animosity towards any person, but on the
preservation of an institution that promotes and enshrines mutual,
exclusive, and permanent marital love between a man and a woman as
the necessary foundation for the creation and nurturing of new life, and for
the future and stability of society. Let us pray to the Lord.

Let those in the media who are charged with the task of reporting
on the trial be accurate and faithful in their work, not swayed by prejudice
or bent on misleading the public or influencing the outcome of the
appellate process. And heal all pain and suffering, prejudices,
discrimination and persecution that may be experienced by proponents or
opponents of traditional marriage. Let us pray to the Lord.

Raise up vibrant Christian families, Lord, and bless, and protect all
families that seek to do Your holy will. Let us pray to the Lord.

Guadalupe, that in your apparitions on
Mount Tepeyac you promised to show pity
and compassion to all who, loving and
trusting you, seek your help and protection.
Accordingly, listen now to our supplications
and grant us consolation and relief. We are
full of hope that, relying on your help,
nothing can trouble or affect us. As you
have remained with us through your
admirable image, so now obtain for us the
graces we need. Amen

Oremos para el Matrimonio y los que apoyan
el Matrimonio en juicio en California
Este Diciembre 6, 2010, el Circuito de Cortes de Apelaciones de los Estados Unidos en San Francisco escuchara argumentos orales a favor
de anular la decisión de el Juez Vaughn Walker hecha en la Corte de el Distrito Federal, cual anulación restaurara la Proposición 8 (la
enmienda a Constitución de California que reconoce el matrimonio entre un hombre y una mujer). Por orden judicial, el Juez Vaughn Walker
encontró que no había razón racional para reconocer el matrimonio entre un hombre y una mujer, y concluyo que la única razón por la cual
la Proposición 8 paso en Noviembre 2008 fue intolerancia por parte de los votantes. Porque posiblemente este caso llegara a la Corte
Suprema de los Estados Unidos, podría llegar a ser igual que el caso de “Roe v.
Wade” con consecuencias nacionales. Los invitamos a rezar que la decisión Juez
Vaughn Walker sea anulada por la Corte de Apelaciones. A ese fin ofrecemos las
siguientes peticiones para oración diaria.
Padre Celestial, desde el principio Usted estableció el matrimonio como la
unión permanente de un hombre y una mujer con el propósito de establecer

mejor nacer y ser. En esta hora oscura, en la que la bondad de su Propósito
Divino está tan mal comprendido, y en la que quienes han tratado de dar

escuches estas oraciones que le ofrecemos, a través de la Santo Niño Jesús,
y la intercesión del resto de la Sagrada Familia de Nazaret, de su madre
María, especialmente bajo el titulo de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y San
José, el padre terrenal y protector de la familia, y a través de la intercesión del
Santo Joaquín y Ana, padres de María y abuelos de Jesús:

consuelo y alivio. Estamos llenos de

nada puede afectarnos o causar problemas.

Que los demandantes sientan Su amor y la paz; consola sus dolores y
sufrimientos y hacerles entender que el apoyo al matrimonio tradicional se
basa, no en capricho o animosidad hacia ninguna persona, sino en la
preservación de una institución que promueve y consagra mutuo, exclusivo, y el amor
conyugal permanente entre un hombre
y una mujer como la base necesaria para la creación y el fomento de nueva vida, y para el futuro y la estabilidad de la

Que los medios de comunicación que se encargan de la tarea de informar sobre el juicio sean exactas y fiel en su
trabajo, no influido por el prejuicio o sean empeñados en confundir al público o influir en el resultado del juicio. Y curar todo
dolor y sufrimiento, los prejuicios, la discriminación y la persecución que puede ser sentido por los partidarios o adversarios
del matrimonio tradicional. Oremos al Señor.

Levanta vibrantes familias Cristianas, Señor, y bendiga y proteja a todas las
