This month of October has truly been
memorable here at St Barts! Unfortunately, I
began the month – October 1 – putting my
dog Simba to sleep after being with me for
more than 11 years. It was a difficult
decision.
He was a great friend and
companion not only to me but to so many
parishioners of Saints Peter and Paul in
Williamsburg and here at St Barts. I’m still
a little sad – and will definitely miss him!

GUADALUPE
FUNDRAISER
The Guadalupe committee will host a
food and dessert fundraiser on
Sunday, October 27 after the 10 a.m.,
11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. masses in the
school gym. All monies will be used
to help cover the costs on the feast of
Our Lady of Guadalupe –December 12. It will also be
our “welcome back home” party for Fr Lucas.
NEW PARISH OFFICE HOURS
In an effort to offer greater convenience we are
beginning new parish offer hours next week.
The office will be open to assist with parish
registration, baptism information, offer sacrament
certificates and Mass cards.

Our first mass in Bengali will take place on
Sunday, October 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel.
Confessions will be heard from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30
p.m. in the chapel. Fr Nirmal Costa our new
parochial vicar will celebrate the mass.
Following the mass there will be refreshments in
Heafey Hall. The Bangladeshi and
Indian
community invite all those who speak Bengali to
attend this mass.
OKTOBERFEST PARTY: We have had an
overwhelming response to our party scheduled for Thursday, October 24. Unfortunately,
there are no more tickets available at this
time. Remember, all those who purchased a
ticket must present it in order to enter.
Hopefully, we will have another occasion to
have a party – before the Mardi Gras!

MISSION SUNDAY: Next Sunday we join with the
entire Church in celebrating the Missions. All of us
by our baptism have the responsibility to share our
faith. Some have a special call, to spread the faith in
places far away from their own home. These missionaries- lay men and women, religious brothers and
sisters, priests and bishops- give up a lot to go to foreign lands and share the message of Jesus and His
Church. The second collection next week is our way
of showing support for the work of the Church
throughout the world. Please be generous.
CONFIRMATION DAY: This coming Saturday,
October 19 at 11 a.m. Bishop Octavio Cisneros will
confer the Sacrament of Confirmation upon 85
young people from our parish. The last time we
had that large number was 1998 when Bishop Valero confirmed 87! We are so happy to see these
young people in our youth groups and assisting in
the life of our parish. Please keep them in your
prayers during this grace-filled time. Everyone is
encouraged and welcome to attend the mass.
COLUMBUS DAY: This Monday October 14 is a
federal holiday. The parish office will be closed
for the day. The chapel will also close immediately after the 9 a.m. mass.

– visitando otros países y lugares para compartir el
mensaje de Jesús y Su Iglesia. La segunda colecta
la semana que viene es nuestra manera de apoyar

FIESTA DE OKTOBERFEST: Hemos tenido una
