Peter’s Pence 2nd Collection ext Weekend - June 25 & 26
Next week, our diocese will take up the Peter’s Pence Collection, which
provides Pope Francis with the funds he needs to carry out his charitable
works around the world. The proceeds benefit our brothers and sisters on
the margins of society, including victims of war, oppression, and disasters.
Join our Holy Father as a witness of charity to those who are suffering.

A Servant’s Heart
Jesus presented a serious challenge to his followers. We
may think it’s not possible to imitate Jesus’ actions, but
that’s exactly what the following passage calls for: “So
when he had washed their feet [and] put his garments
back on and reclined at table again, he said to them, Do
you realize what I have done for you? You call me
‘teacher’ and ‘master’ and rightly so, for indeed I am. If
I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your
feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given
you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you
should also do. (John 13:12-15)
Jesus isn’t telling us to go around washing dirty feet. He
is telling us to find ways to serve others and live our lives
in the sacrificial way that he lived out his days on earth.
No one has Jesus’ healing ability or can speak with his
authority, but with the right attitude and motivation, we
can become servants as he did. We can make a
difference in other people’s lives by putting others first.
This is challenging, yet it is within the power of everyone
who follows Jesus. Three ways to demonstrate a
servant’s heart: 1. Volunteer for a job no one else wants.
2. Deflect the glory by serving quietly and without
fanfare. 3. Encourage those who benefit from what you
do to pay it forward..

Renew Your Wedding Vows this weekend ... A
communal renewal of wedding vows can be very
meaningful and touching for the couples, their family
members and the Parish family and friends. As a married
couple it gives you time to pause and reflect on where you
have been and where you are going. It would be a
wonderful example for your children and grand children,
especially if they are present for the occasion. This
weekend, we will invite couples to renew their wedding
vows at every Mass. Continue to nourish your marriage
by sharing your faith together as a couple. Let not your
love wither or die. Give a chance for the your love to ripen.
The Rosary Makers of St. Luke are seeking men and
women interested in making rosaries for the military and
world missions. We meet Monday mornings at 10am in St.
Clare, Room 1. For info, contact Andrew Carpenter at 692
