
We are pleased to announce that Small
Christian Communities are coming to
IHM! Come As You Are is a twelve
week program designed to help us
grow as a Christian community.
Register after Mass or online at
www.ihmatlanta.org.

August 15 is the Solemnity of the
Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Because it falls on a Monday, the
bishops of the United States have
removed the obligation to attend Mass
that day. But the Assumption remains
a holy day of the highest order, and all
are welcome to honor the Blessed
Mother at our 8:30 a.m. Mass on
Monday.
Faith Formation enrollment ends soon,
but there are spaces still available!
Enrollment will remain open until August 28.
Forms are available in the Parish Office.
To complete your enrollment and payment online, visit us at

raiser is the annual raffle ticket sale. On the

PARENTS OF CATHOLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS: DON’T FORGET YOUR PARISH
STEWARDSHIP COMMITMENTS!
Remember that the Archdiocesan Parish Verification Form describes an “active” Catholic
family as: (1) registered in their parish; (2)
participating regularly at Mass on Sundays
and Holy Days; (3) having a parish Time &
Talent commitment on file for the current year
and participating in at least one parish ministry; (3) having a parish Treasure commitment
on file for the current year and contributing on
a regular basis; and (4) pledged and contributing to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal for
the current year. Those who do not meet these
criteria are “registered but not active” and are
not eligible for the “active Catholic” tuition.
Please do the right thing now so that your
Monsignor Al is able to check “active” when
your verification form crosses his desk.
Parking is free and there is no cost to attend.
Discussion will focus on how to live our faith in
this world more peacefully and effectively. We
will honor those who have given their lives for
their faith. For more information, please visit http://www.archatl.com.

We extend our prayers and best wishes to all students who returned to school this
week. Through your studies, may you grow “in wisdom and in years, and in divine
and human favor,” just as the child Jesus did (Luke 2:52). We also pray for all
educators who resume their work this week. May St. John Neumann, whose relic
rests beneath our altar, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, whose image graces our nave,
inspire you and intercede for you.
Our new year of Faith Formation begins on September 11. Registration for
elementary (G.I.F.T.), middle school (The Edge), and high school (Life Teen)
programs will remain open until August 28. Forms are available in the parish office or online.
Parent orientation for all programs will take place in the IHM School cafeteria on
August 28, at 10:15 am (morning session) or 6:15 pm (evening session). At least
one parent from each family should plan to attend.

Are you interested in becoming
Catholic, or simply learning more
about the Catholic faith? We look
forward to meeting you, answering
your questions, and helping you
discern God’s call. Please join us for
the first of our summer “inquiry”
sessions on Wednesday, August 24,
7:00-8:00 p.m., in the lower level of
the church. Contact Drew Denton in
the parish office for more
information.
Dr. Louanne Bachner’s Thursday
scripture study will not meet during
the month of August.
The study will resume at its regular
times, 9:30 a.m. and 7:00 pm, on
Thursday, September 1.
Students who are eligible to receive the sacraments of Confirmation or First Holy
Communion during the 2016-2017 school year may now enroll for sacramental
preparation online at http://www.ihmatlanta.org/sacramental-enrollment. Hard
copies are also available in the parish office.
Please note that this is a separate form intended only for sacramental preparation.
Families who wish to enroll students in our regular Faith Formation programs
(G.I.F.T., The Edge, and Life Teen) should use the Faith Formation enrollment
form (link). Students who will be participating in both programs—for instance,
10th-graders who will attend the weekly Life Teen sessions and the special Confirmation prep sessions—should submit both forms.
The Liturgy of the Word for Children offers children, ages 4-7, the opportunity to
hear God’s Word in an accessible and engaging format. They listen to the scriptures, say the Creed, and offer their prayers in language appropriate to their age
level. Beginning this weekend, we will offer the Children’s Liturgy at 9:00 Mass
throughout the school year. Note: Due to a shortage of volunteer leaders, for the
time being we will not be offering the Children’s Liturgy at 11:30 Mass.
If you would like to lead or assist in this ministry, please contact Drew Denton in
the parish office.

muebles.
Si no eres católico (a) o si eres mayor de
18 años y no has recibido los
sacramentos de Bautismo, Primera
Comunión y Confirmación, te invitamos a
aprender más acerca de nuestra fe.
Comuníquese con Alicia Guerrero en la
oficina parroquial.
Bienvenidos a nuestra comunidad;
